Body Casting. Part 2!!!

After last's week work on body casting, we continued on our work on body casts and after determining who was going to be the lucky people get casted we set out straight away and got on casting new poses (minus Heather - I didn't get a chance to get a picture of her cling filmed up.)

Emma was the one that me and Lauren casted, I found it a lot easier this since I had an extra pair of hands helping me this time - when we had finished casted we decided not to smooth down the cast and we left the texture a little rugged and jagged.

After our first three casts, Jon told us what our theme was for our brief for the construction department mural, which is British Folk Art - after a quick group research into themes often found in folk art we decide that the set of new casts would be based on a sort of mythical/folk legend/circus theme. Then after the lesson we would individually research into Folk Art more to gain a better understanding on the theme - and then that would make our casts better.

We knew that to achieve this we would have to modify/change to pose to make it suite the this concept, but we also had to make sure that it would be comfortable for those who were posing. Our first pose was a hunchback character, we achieved this by elegantly stuffing a pair of overalls onto Emma's back and then cling-filming it to her.

The second pose was a kind of conjoined twins pose and to achieve this we cling-filmed Amy and Eleanor together and then they were casted together, taking them out of it was a six person job!
