Mum has a particular sewing foot for her sewing machine that can make the edge of a piece of fabric ruffled, so I thought it was best to give that a try since it would take a lot less time then sewing the ruffles by hand - I cut the netting into strips with a width of 9 inches and this would allow the netting to be more easily ruffled. I had to use a piece of ribbon as a stabilizer so that the sewing foot could take the fabric and ruffle it properly.
